NIANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are investigating a homicide after they found two people dead inside a home Friday in Niantic in what they are calling a murder-suicide.

According to East Lyme police, officers conducted a well-being check at 3:30 p.m. at a home on Billow Road in Niantic. They found two people dead inside the home.

News 8’s Brittany Schaeffer found that the road was blocked off and the police scene was near the Black Point Beach area of Niantic.

The bodies underwent a post mortem examination to determine their cause of death. Investigation determined the homicide is the result of a murder-suicide.

The two deceased individuals are 77-year-old Lorraine Decarli, who was killed by a gunshot wound, and 76-year-old Frank Cirioni, who was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said this is an active investigation, but there are no threats to the community.
