Water rescue in Deer Creek flash flood on Manchester Road

ROCK HILL, Mo. — Flash flooding overnight led to a water rescue in Rock Hill. Standing water remains in the area Tuesday.

The rescue happened just off Manchester Road at Rock Hill Industrial Court, very close to the Trainwreck Saloon. What is normally a small street and parking area as part of the Forest Products Supply Company has now become a lake.

The high water is all a result of flash flooding overnight from Deer Creek, which is just feet from the street and parking area. Flood water from the creek just pouring into the low point for that area.

Crews from the Rock Hill and Brentwood fire departments rushing to that scene for the water rescue overnight. Semi driver Emmanuel Lare tells us he was sleeping in his rig waiting to drop off a load early this morning at the Forest Products Company. Emmanuel says he woke up to water basically surrounding his rig.

Emmanuel called 911 and that started the water rescue in the very early hours of this morning. Fortunately crews were able to rescue Emmanuel safely with no injuries.

We spoke earlier with Emmanuel about the experience. Here is some of what he told us.

“I was sleeping in my truck because I was supposed to get a load by 2 a.m. When I woke up I saw the water around my truck. And at that time I was scared and I tried to open my door but the water was touching my door. So at that time I didn’t know what to do. I just took my phone and called 911,” explained Emmanuel.

The owner of Forest Products tells us the standing water could be there a while. It can’t recede until all of the water in Deer Creek recedes. We will see when that happens.
