Boaz man dies following Tuesday morning North Alabama crash

A Boaz man died from injuries in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning.

Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the incident happened at about 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, on Alabama 68 near Dekalb County 362, approximately six miles west of Crossville in Dekalb County.

Mickey E. Echols, 75, was critically injured when the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving left the roadway and struck a culvert.

After the initial impact, Bailey said, the Chevrolet went airborne and overturned multiple times. Echols was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was partially ejected.

Echols was transported to Marshall Medical Center South, where he died from his injuries.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
