Stay In A Pottery Barn Special Edition Airstream In Ojai, California

Following

Performance-driven with home-like comfort, Airstream, the iconic hand-crafted aluminum travel trailer brand, rises above all the others in the market. And, in a time when families want to connect, spend time in nature, and unplug from digital devices, it has become more appealing than ever to go on a road trip adventure. Parents want to hike with their kids, swim in rivers, and share stories around the campfire. Digital nomads want more freedom to live the life they want—working to live, not the other way around.

Easy to spot on the road, in a campground, or even in New York City’s Museum of Modern Art, there’s just something about Airstream’s streamlined riveted skin that makes folks feel joy and nostalgia for a simpler time. Wally Byam created the first Airstream in the 30s and the wanderlust ethos of road trip travel continues today. Of course, there’s more to it than simply a well-designed machine made for mobile travel, fashioned with all the comforts of home. There’s also a community built around Airstreams, beginning with Byam’s Wally Byam Caravan Club International that he organized in the 50s, making it desirable to meet and travel with other Airstream owners across the country and planet.

Today, social media and the Internet have made it easy for travelers to connect, share advice, and meet in person. In addition to YouTubers, bloggers, travel writers, and influencers, Airstream has loads of resources on their own website, from product manuals to user guides to tutorials that help new owners understand everything from maintenance to operations. What if you’ve never backed into a campsite, boondocked, or used solar panels before? How do you schedule a service if something goes wrong? What about winter camping? Airstream has your back, in spades.

Everything you might need, from campsite gear to roadside emergency kits to tools to apparel to décor, can be purchased at Airstream Supply Company. Airstream has partnered with Pottery Barn, OXO, and other brands to deliver the best in goods.

Need to learn how to educate your kids while traveling? Airstream partnered with Teacher Created Materials for educational resources tailor-made for road schooling. Want to visit the Airstream Heritage Center? Set the GPS for Airstream Headquarters in Jackson Center Ohio. Interested in further information and inspiration? Read the Airstream Blog.

If you’re not ready to own a “silver bullet” just yet, there’s a lovely little campsite in the small town of Ojai, California called Caravan Outpost. You can stay in one of the nine available Airstreams, including the shiny new 28-foot Pottery Barn Special Edition Travel Trailer, complete with a comfy sofa, solid oak wood dining table, a light and bright kitchen, shower and separate toilet, and a queen-sized bed. The flower and plant-filled outpost grounds have private seating areas, as well as communal spaces, freshly brewed coffee each morning, and complimentary bikes. A pop-up shop is also open for some light retail therapy.

While in Ojai, book a horseback ride with Ojai Valley Trail Riding Company, owned and operated by Susan Gruber. If you go on a sunset ride, you’ll likely be rewarded with “The Pink Moment”, the unique horizontal alpenglow that materializes on the Topatopa Mountain bluffs at dusk. Situated on Oso Ranch, adjacent to the Ojai Land Conservancy, connecting with nature while riding is an experience that you’re not soon to forget. Riders can bring their own picnic to enjoy at the ranch after the ride. The Dutchess, The Nest, or Rainbow Bridge Natural Foods are all great options for picking up take-out noshes.

Other popular things to do in Ojai include hiking the Rose Valley Falls trail, wandering through the downtown art galleries and boutiques, taking a tour of the Ojai Olive Oil Company, perusing the farmers market, discovering a new tome at Bart’s Books, learning about the destination at Ojai Valley Museum of History and Art, and letting the kids run around at Libbey Park.

Airstreams are built to last for generations, making the investment a solid one. Whether you decide to vacation in one temporarily, rent one for a long road trip through a site like RVshare, or take the plunge and purchase one, you’ll be grateful for the experience for years to come.
