BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG) — Patrons at Bay Minette Public Library will soon find it easier to plug into library services.

According to a press release, the library is adding three new mobile charging stations. Each charging station has eight USB ports and eight electrical outlets, allowing people to charge up to 16 devices at once.

The stations are considered mobile stations due to the fact that they roll for ease and accessibility. Officials say the feature is especially important given that “outlets are limited and not always conveniently located.”

In addition, library officials say that these charging stations are essential as “Libraries are so much more than just books on a shelf.”

Bay Minette Library Director Joanna Bailey said, “Libraries are the community hub, a gathering place for learning with access to digital resources. We are working every day to keep up with the changing technology and times.”

She added, “Those who are low on battery power can relax inside and read a book while they charge their device.”
