VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI -- Three people were injured Friday evening when they were ejected from their car during a rollover crash in Van Buren County.

A vehicle was headed east on M-43 near 64th Street in Bangor Township around 5 p.m. on Friday, March 29, when it ran off the roadway to the right, witnesses told the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office. The driver then appeared to overcorrect, veering into oncoming traffic and into a ditch, police said in a release.

The car, a black Nissan Armanda SUV, rolled several times, ejecting the three occupants. The car eventually stopped in the ditch, partially submerged in water, police said.

A 22-year-old woman from South Haven, a 20-year-old woman from Bangor and a 29-year-old man from Bangor were taken to the Bronson Hospital Kalamazoo with serious injuries, police said. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

It is unclear who was driving, police said. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The freeway was closed for roughly two hours, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office was joined by crews from the Michigan State Police, South Haven Area Emergency Service, Bangor Police and Van Buren Emergency Medical Services.
