Doretta Cooper OBITUARY

Doretta (Dottie) B. Cooper, 87, passed away April 6, 2024 in Akron, Colorado. Dottie was born April 12, 1936, in Eagleville, Missouri to Ruth and Orvon Holloway. She grew up on the family farm, where her favorite thing was taking care of the animals. Dottie met the love of her life, Ronald (Ron) R. Cooper through her uncle who was serving with Ron in the Navy. Dottie and Ron were married on December 29, 1957, in Eagleville, Missouri. They traveled the world during Ron’s military service. Dottie’s favorite place to live was Saipan in the Marianas Island, and Japan. Dottie and Ron started a family; they had a daughter Lynne A (Cooper) Monsees, who is married to Michael M Monsees, and a son Larry R. Cooper who was married to Tami F (White) Cooper. Dottie had many friends, including June Hansen, who she knew for 38 years, and many other special friends she met and worked with at Eben Ezer Care Center. Dottie loved the connections she made through the many jobs she had in her life. She worked at Singer Sewing Machine Company in Rhode Island, numerous bookkeeping positions, and at Eben Ezer in Dietary Services. Dottie was a member of New Testament Baptist Church where she was baptized. Most recently she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she loved attending services and those she worshipped with; especially her pastor, Ralph Helm. Dottie loved to paint, she had a green thumb, and had many flowering plants, both indoor and outdoors. Dottie’s favorite flowers were African Violets, of which she had many. She loved the birds, sunshine, and warmth on her back patio. She also loved to read and watch football. Dottie will always be remembered for her compassionate and kind spirit. She never had a bad word for anyone, and always had a positive outlook. Dottie was preceded in death by her father, Orvon; her mother, Ruth; brother, Max; husband Ron; son Larry; and her daughter-in-law, Tami. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn; and son-in-law, Michael. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Heer Mortuary in Brush 4:00 – 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Heer Mortuary in Brush, followed by interment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
