Round Rock softball player Glo Torres voted Austin-area Girls Athlete of the Week
Round Rock softball player Glo Torres, who played a key part in wins over Vista Ridge and Westwood, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Girls Athlete of the Week for March 19-23.
Torres had two hits, a run and three RBIs in the Dragons' 9-3 win over second-place Vista Ridge in a key District 25-6A game on March 19, and she had two more hits and two RBIs in a 4-3 win over district rival Westwood. She received 53% of the vote.
Lake Travis soccer player Amelia Clark, Anderson soccer player Claire Navarro, Lake Travis softbal player Julianna Rodriguez and Cedar Ridge softball player Tyra Thompson also were candidates. Cedar Ridge softball player Nicole McCann won the previous poll, for March 11-16.
The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Girls Athlete of the Week and Boys Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
