Mothers In Crisis, Inc. accomplished another major milestone in the promotion of hope by receiving a proclamation from Mayor John Dailey of the City of Tallahassee at the request of Mayor Pro Tem, Curtis Richardson, declaring April as Hope Month in the City of Tallahassee.

It's a month to spread hope and help to those who need it and we all could use more hope.

Members of Mothers In Crisis and city commissioners with Proclamation of Hope Month designation in April 2024.

On the night that we received the proclamation there were several others presented including a proclamation given to the City of Tallahassee by the State of Florida recognizing the Bicentennial Anniversary of Tallahassee. It was very interesting to be reminded of the history of Tallahassee by Representative Alison Tant. I did not miss the significance of receiving the proclamation of hope as Tallahassee celebrates 200 years.

It's going to take hope in order to move Tallahassee forward as we tackle gun violence and other issues facing our city. There have already been 25 shootings with 10 resulting in death since the year began.

While there are many initiatives that are underway by various organizations and entities, we must find a way to unify our efforts in order to be successful and hope is a unifying force.

I believe when we start from the framework of hope we can find solutions because hope is future oriented. It provides the push that is needed to never give up no matter what and we cannot give up on our youth who are our future.

That is why having a month of hope to concentrate and consolidate our efforts can bring a much-needed rush of excitement and energy to continue throughout the year.
