Laura started teaching middle school English in 1988, when her typewriter was as high tech as it got. In 2012 she completed her M.A. in Educational Technology, even though she had yet to join the ranks of smart phone users. She then developed and taught a design lab class and a broadcast media class, became a Google Certified Innovator/Educator, and finally took the smart phone plunge. Laura is also a National Board Certified Teacher, a Bay Area Writing Project Teacher Consultant, and first place winner of the Henry Ford Teacher Innovator Award. Laura and her husband Doug teach at Kenilworth Junior High School in Petaluma, California, where Doug is doing just fine without a smart phone, thank you very much.

Fun Fact: Laura spent three summers working in Yosemite National Park, where she slept on top of Half Dome and learned to light a match with her toes.
