The Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant will celebrate its 28th anniversary this weekend in Greeley.
The restaurant plans to be the epicenter of downtown fun with an anniversary party from 5-11 p.m. Friday at 825 9th St., Unit A.
Along with its food, margaritas and other classic drinks, the Rio will host games, giveaways, V.I.P. bags, a mariachi band, a magician, food tastings, tequila tastings and margarita samples, according to a news release. To top it all off, the Rio will give away a trip to Mexico.
Partygoers will get to check out the restaurant’s new renovations that were completed last month.
“The folks that tend to come here are very loyal members of the community,” Rio owner Pat McGaughran said last month. “So they’re keeping a watchful eye on us and making sure we’re doing something that they like. We’ve had some really positive comments so far. I think people like the refreshed look.”
The original Rio opened in Fort Collins in 1986, and the Greeley location opened in April 1996. Other locations are in Denver, Boulder and Lone Tree.
