Softball
Hereford 2, Western Tech 1: Ryan Larkin threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Bulls topped the Wolverines. Daniel Metz brought home the go-ahead run when he reached on an error in the bottom of the fourth. Peyton Whittle also had an RBI hit in the win.
Marriotts Ridge 14, Atholton 1: The Mustangs (6-3) continued to roll, winning their sixth game in a row. Olivia Ober and Biff Lorah each had two RBIs. Marriotts Ridge jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first. Sienna Williams earned the win, striking out nine and allowing just one hit in five innings.
Reservoir 17, Wilde Lake 1: The Gators (9-1, 8-0 Howard County) scored 12 runs in the first inning to break the game open. Andaiye Smith earned the win, striking out nine in five innings and allowing just three hits. Michelle Mason led the way with three RBIs and two hits, while Cambell Sagin added two more hits and two RBIs.
River Hill 2, Glenelg 0: The Hawks (4-5, 4-4 Howard County) picked up a big win over the previously undefeated Gladiators. Annie Levine earned the shutout, striking out seven. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Kat Thompson was 3-for-3 while Broke Blakeslee also had a hit.
Patterson Mill 15, Harford Tech 1: Lily Baldwin threw a two-hitter, giving up just one unearned run while striking out five. Offensively, Aubrey March had three hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Izzy Hiebler also drove in three runs in the win. Ava Ward and Savannah Reedy each had two RBIs.
Manchester Valley 14, Winters Mill 1: Isabella Pietryak went 3-for-3, including a triple, to lead the Mavericks’ offense. She drove in three runs in the game. Grace Wood also tripled and chased home two. Brooke Sims, Hailey Facchine, Alex Carroll, Ashlee Hipsley and Sylvie Elliott also had RBIs. Sims got the win in the circle, throwing a five-hitter with five strikeouts.
Century 8, South Carroll 0: Jordan Currie struck out 10 in a seven-hit shutout. She also helped herself out offensively with a triple, a single and two RBIs. Abby Mastria doubled twice and drove in a run for the Knights. Alyssa Sarver singled and drove in two. Tori Mackinson doubled in a run while Mackenzie Carver also had an RBI.
Baseball
Dulaney 4, Parkville 2: Tied at 1 in the top of the seventh, Dulaney scored three. Drew Ranck singled home two runs and later came across the plate on Nate Farlow’s double. Ranck started on the mound and went five innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits. Dylan Townsend pitched the final two innings and got the win.
North Harford 7, Bel Air 1: Tucker Deal went 3-for-4, with a double, and drove in two runs for the Hawks. Matt Hart finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Mason French and Jackson Arminger also drove in runs. On the mound, Collin Kight threw a six-hitter with five strikeouts.
C. Milton Wright 5, Patterson Mill 3: Landon Melnick launched a two-run home run over the left-field fence in the bottom of the eighth to give CMW the win. The Mustangs were down to their final out, but tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Gavin Miller scored off a wild pitch. Tre McInnes had two hits and two RBIs for the Huskies.
Howard 14, Hammond 1: Brennan Giangrasso earned the win, pithing five strong innings for the Lions (4-4). Catcher Austin Proescher spearheaded the offense with two doubles and two RBIs.
Reservoir 10, Wilde Lake 1: The Gators (5-3, 4-3 Howard County) earned the win with Sebastian Fuentes throwing 5 ⅓ innings, with eight strikeouts, allowing just two hits. Cameron Whitehead led the offense going 2-for-3 with a triple. For Wilde Lake (0-10, 0-9), David Carroll had two hits, including a double, and the Wildecats’ lone RBI.
Marriotts Ridge 12, Atholton 2: Barry Romero pitched a complete game for the host Mustangs (3-6). He also had two doubles and two RBIs in the win. Spencer Grams had two hits and Chase Kamerman was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs.
Broadneck 11, Annapolis 0: Kobe Owen, Devin McGowan and freshman Cooper Mengel combined efforts to throw a no-hitter for the host Bruins. Starter Owen went three innings and got the win. Reliever McGowan worked the fourth inning and walked one. Mengel threw the fifth inning and hit one batter. Broadneck scored six runs in the second inning. Calvin Cook had a double, a home run and two RBIs for the Bruins.
Chesapeake-AA 1, Southern 0: Dylan Adams threw a complete game no-hitter for the host Cougars. Adams threw seven innings, walked two and struck out 10. Chesapeake scored the only run in the fourth inning.
Glen Burnie 7, South River 3: Peyton Ingle pitched six innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits to help the Gophers beat the Seahawks. Mason Williams, Jordan Dailey, Joey Portera and Elijah Simms all had two hits while Dylan Kellner tripled and knocked in a run.
Westminster 5, Liberty 3: The Owls handed the Lions their first county loss of the season, thanks in part to the combined pitching effort of Clayton Dorsey and Garrett Denkenberger, who teamed on a six-hitter. Dorsey also led off the game with a home run. Westminster took control of the game with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by Will Mollman’s three-run triple.
Century 7, South Carroll 3: Tied going into the seventh, the Knights scored three in the top of the frame. Hunter Elrod doubled in the go-ahead run, one more scored on Dominic Califano’s single and Dominic Crisp capped the rally with a two-run home run. Ryan Matthews threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs — two earned — on seven hits while striking out five. Brody Clark closed the game for the save.
Winters Mill 6, Manchester Valley 2: Marky Laguna got the win throwing 6 2/3 innings, giving up two runs — one earned — on six hits while striking out four. Aiden Koerbel finished with three hits and two RBIs to lead the offense. Laguna, Chris Schoonover and Tommy Roelke also had three-hit games. Patrick Scott drove in two runs.
Girls lacrosse
Annapolis Area Christian 18, St. Vincent Pallotti 6: Elllie Hansen scored five goals and the host Eagles (4-1, 4-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland C Conference) beat the Panthers (1-7, 1-3). The win was the fourth straight. Friday, Pallotti hosts St. Timothy’s. Monday, AACS travels to Chesapeake-AA.
Roland Park 13, John Carroll 11: Ohio State-bound Sammie Bender had a hat trick, but the visiting Patriots (6-4, 5-3 IAAM A Conference) fell to the Reds (5-7, 4-7). Friday, John Carroll travels to Glenelg Country. Saturday, Roland Park will face Agnes Irwin (Pa.) at Bryn Mawr.
Aberdeen 15, Edgewood 8: In the loss for the Rams, Mallory Hax scored five goals. Emmeron Whittington scored two and Caelyn Griffin finished with a goal and an assist.
Boys lacrosse
C. Milton Wright 8, Chesapeake-AA 5: Gavin Morris scored three goals as the Mustangs won a defensive battle. Justin Eckman added two goals, while Gavin McCullough, Brooks Benson and Cameron Stepp also scored. Aiden Whitmore collected six ground balls. Hunter Cappe made 12 saves for the visiting Cougars.
Bel Air 13, River Hill 11: The Bobcats prevailed in a back-and-forth game. Devin Trzeciak scored six goals to lead the win. He also assisted on a goal. Grant Smith and Chase Bullock each finished with two goals and two assists. Taiga Merulla, Garrett Alban and Jason Pitzer also had goals. In net, Patrick Cook made 10 saves.
Boys tennis
Marriotts Ridge 4, Atholton 1: Mukundh Boopathi and Rafa Feldman dominated at No. 1 and No. 2 singles with 8-0 and 8-1 wins, respectively. The No. 1 and No. 3 doubles pairings of Tyler Wang and Jerry He, and Sam Lim and David Liu won their matches, 8-1 and 8-2, respectively. For Atholton the No. 2 doubles pairing of Aryan Singh and Nikhil Ramani won 8-6.
Liberty 4, Westminster 1: Liberty lost its first point of the year, but kept its unbeaten record in tact. Nikhil Andhavarapu and Louis Major picked up singles wins. Arjun Mistry and Hayden Speace cruised in first doubles, while Austin Shade and Jason Murphy won a marathon, 5-7, 7-6 (5), 13-11. Westminster’s Nishal Patel and Luke Schoberg won third doubles.
Century 3, South Carroll 2: Nolan Mailhot swept first singles to lead the Knights to the win. Kaushik Inguva followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at second singles. The Knights also got a win from Jack Gibson and Greyson Glenn at third doubles to seal the victory. For South Carroll, Michael Mooney and Kyle Hastings swept first doubles, and Chase Loden and Joel Lee won the No. 2 match.
Girls tennis
Marriotts Ridge 5, Atholton 0: Stella Lee and Erika Kang won 8-0 and 8-3 in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. The doubles pairings of Vin Badugu and Christina Ottman, Haeli Shah and Maria Ottman and Sophia Feldman and Mahika Juneja won their matches 8-5, 8-1 and 8-2, respectively.
Liberty 4, Westminster 1: The Owls’ Daphnee Whitmore won a thrilling first singles match against Grace Maerten 5-7, 6-4, 10-7, but the Lions swept the rest of the day to earn the win, highlighted by Gabby Krcma winning second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Doubles wins came from the teams of Amelia Mustico and Payton Oakley, Mia Leonhartt and Mallory Stevenson, and Abigail Zentner and Aubrey Anderson.
Manchester Valley 5, Winters Mill 0: Katy Resh and Emily McElwaine cruised in their singles matches to lead the Mavericks’ sweep. Talula Castanzo and Madison MacGregor won first doubles while Tori Kelley and Olivia Watts, and Summer Jordan and Brylee Jones also picked up wins.
South Carroll 3, Century 2: Sydney Mossman won in a third-set tiebreaker at second singles to provide the winning point for the Cavaliers, winning 6-4, 1-6, 10-8. Audrey Lillycrop and Caroline Aliftiras cruised to a first doubles win, while Sophie Kebede and Anissa Smith took the No. 3 match. Century’s Bella Filippi won first singles, 6-0, 6-1, and the Knights’ team of Addison Mahoney and Olivia Kennedy won second doubles.
