During a recent episode of The Rest Is Football podcast, football legends Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker, and Micah Richards engaged in a lively discussion about the game, with a particular focus on emerging talents.

The conversation veered towards Mason Mount, with Shearer tipping him for a potential career transition based on his attributes.

Shearer, renowned for his astute observations, described Mount as "perfect" for a certain role, hinting at possibilities beyond his current football career.

Mount's versatility and skill set garnered praise from Shearer, who was joined by Lineker and Richards on the podcast.

The banter-filled exchange also included humorous moments, such as Richards jesting about taking Lineker's job, prompting playful responses from the seasoned broadcasters.

Lineker, in jest, expressed his curiosity about Richards's autocue reading skills, to which Richards admitted apprehension but ruled out pursuing a career in presenting.

“So we had Mount, [Ryan] Sessegnon and Phil Foden I think it was,” Shearer said. “Mount I think was brilliant. Just like straight through, not one error, not one slip up, he was perfect.”

“He's young enough not to be affecting me,” Lineker then said.
