Catherine Anne Oster (nee Bardell) OBITUARY

Catherine (“Kit”) Anne Oster (n‚e Bardell) passed away on January 25, 2024 after a nine month battle with esophageal cancer. Catherine was born in Berkeley, CA on March 19, 1953 to Dorothy L. Bardell and Robert D. Bardell. Catherine grew up in Orinda, CA and resided in Contra Costa (Concord, Moraga) and Alameda (Berkeley) Counties before retiring and moving to Portola in Plumas County in 2013. Catherine was a wonderful mother, wife, friend, and sister who would do anything for her loved ones. She enjoyed history, cooking, folk dancing, animals, and Disneyland. Vivacious and intelligent, she was well-known for her linguistic aptitude. She spoke at least six languages (two fluently) and was often found reading the dictionary for leisure. Catherine is also remembered for her compassionate nature, and was a champion of social equality. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John W. Oster III; her three children: Jennifer, Mary, and John (“BJ”); and her brother, Robert Bardell. Her service will be held on Sunday, March 24th at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, Nevada.
