Here Are The Free PlayStation Plus Games For September 2020

This article is more than 3 years old.

Amidst all the big video game news items today, Sony announced the free PS Plus games for September.

While I was busy writing about the latest Fortnite Season 4 teaser, the brand new Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War trailer, and previewing the excellent Mafia: Definitive Edition, I almost missed the announcement.

In any case, all my predictions turned out to be wrong. But that’s okay. The free games for September are good ones!

Available next Wednesday, free for all PlayStation Plus subscribers, we have:

  • Street Fighter V
  • PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

I haven’t played Street Fighter V since launch but I’ve always been a fan of the series and while I’m pretty sure I have this one on PS4, I’ll definitely download it if not.

Here’s a trailer:

I definitely don’t have PUBG on my PS4, though I own it on PC and Xbox One—so I figure why not grab a copy for PS4 as well? Never hurts to own all the games on all the platforms.

While PUBG is far from my favorite ever battle royale game, it was the game that started it all. No, I realize it wasn’t the very first battle royale game. But it was the first game to truly popularize the genre. I’m not even entirely certain that Epic Games would have shifted from Fortnite: Save The World to Fortnite: Battle Royale if PUBG hadn’t been such a smash success.

Now it’s free for all PS Plus subscribers, which should give it a nice boost (though frankly it should probably be free already, or at least cheaper).

These games will be available on September 1st (next Tuesday) and you’ll have until next Monday to download the two excellent games that Sony is giving away in August. My how time flies.
