ABINGTON — A student at Abington High School was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly bringing a BB gun onto the school’s premises, the Abington Police Department said in a written statement.

Abington High School Principal Jonathan Bourne contacted police at approximately 8:36 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, after another student witnessed the juvenile with a firearm in one of the school’s bathrooms, police said. It is unclear what prompted the student to brandish the weapon.

The student in question was identified and removed from class without incident, they said.

Police said they recovered a black colored BB pistol that was virtually indistinguishable both in its weight and appearance from a 9mm Glock 19 pistol.
