Sundays Launches Its First Los Angeles Pop-Up In Culver City

Following

In the bustling heart of Culver City's dynamic Platform, Sundays, a Canadian-based furniture brand, has launched its latest pop-up store open from March 8th to April 28th. This new showroom embodies the epitome of California chic. As the brand commemorates five years of creativity and growth, this space is a milestone, marking its first standalone retail showroom in the LA market.

The brand's US sales have been increasing 100% year-over-year, and it anticipates its US sales will be greater than its Canadian sales by next year. After opening its first showroom in the Seattle market early last year, followed by an NYC pop-up in the summer, it only made sense to continue testing new markets with physical retail.

As Barbora Samieian, cofounder of Sundays, said, "From past in-person experiences, we've seen firsthand the power in having shoppers touch and feel and sit with a product in real life."

Why Los Angeles And Platform LA

The company's Los Angeles sales have grown significantly over the past couple of years and has, therefore, had its eye on physical retail in the market. The decision is a strategic move, reflecting the brand's desire to deepen its bonds with the burgeoning customer base in the region.

"We knew we wanted an in-person presence in Los Angeles, but it was important for us to choose a location that placed Sundays alongside like-minded brands," shared Samieian, adding, "We love that Platform LA is centrally located in Culver City, making it an accessible destination for customers coming from many parts of town. Platform LA's retailers are independent brands like us, and they cherish building authentic relationships with their customers. And Platform brings community together: offering a hub for shopping, food, drink, people watching, outdoor play for kids, weekend events, and so much more."

Choosing Platform LA as the location for the pop-up was a natural fit for Sundays. Situated in the heart of Culver City, this eclectic destination is home to various independent brands, including Reformation, Aesop, and Catbird, making it the perfect backdrop for Sundays' distinctive aesthetic.

Sundays is far from the only brand to choose Platform for its LA pop-up. Goodee, another home goods company, has a pop-up at the center. Catbird, a jewelry company, had two pop-ups before making its current store permanent.

"We're thrilled to partner with Sundays Furniture on their first shop in Los Angeles. Platform exists to support independent, design-minded brands offering something unique in the market, and Sundays is a perfect example of that," shared Maggie Hund, Head of Brand at Platform LA.

The Pop-Up Experience

This past weekend marked the opening weekend and included the opportunity for various gifts. The events and offerings will continue with Vitruvi's shop-in-shop starting March 16th through the end of the month and gifts for the first 15 customers on Saturday. The brand's outdoor collection will arrive on March 28th with a Happy Hour event on April 4th and a Female Founder Panel on April 18th. The activations are vital to this showroom experience. "Sundays was built to inspire community: furniture that creates room to host, welcome, nourish, and connect with those around you," shared Samieian.

Reflecting Sundays' signature West Coast-inspired aesthetic, the pop-up exudes warmth and relaxation. Solid wood, rounded corners, and earthy, natural tones are complemented by pops of color and local artwork by Zack Rosebrugh, creating a stylish and inviting space. In terms of product, the store features best sellers and new products never-before-seen in-person, including the Quilt, Wind Down, Showcase, and Union collections

The LA pop-up represents just the beginning of Sundays' ambitious expansion plans. It previously saw a web lift effect from other pop-ups and anticipates the same with this one. With a growing demand for its products and a deep commitment to customer engagement, the brand is positioned for continued success in the US market.
