EAST HAMPTON, Conn. (WTNH) – One person is injured and one is arrested after a stabbing Monday in East Hampton, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing in a wooded area behind 32 East High St. around 9:55 p.m.

When police arrived on the scene, they learned that two people got into an altercation that resulted in one, identified as a 32-year-old man, being stabbed repeatedly on various parts of his body.

The victim then told police that the person who stabbed him was 39-year-old David Heriot and that they knew each other. Police searched the wooded area and were able to locate Heriot and arrest him.

Both were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and the victim remains in the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Heriot is facing charges of assault and reckless endangerment.

The investigation is ongoing.
