Scotts Valley’s 4×800 relay teams blaze at Arcadia Invitational | Local Roundup

Scotts Valley High seniors Ashlyn Boothby and Diana Alivov, and sophomores Ava Decleve and Jenni Brownfield shined together again, this time on Day 1 of the prestigious Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High on Friday.

They took first in the women’s seeded 3,200 relay in 9 minutes, 29.91 seconds, the second-fastest 4×800 time in the Central Coast Section this season.

Scotts Valley seniors Ben George, Spencer George and Mason Lantz, and sophomore Aaron Weiss took second in the men’s seeded 3,200 relay in 8:07.29, the third-best mark by a CCS team this season.

Aptos junior Logan Brantley took sixth in the Rising Stars shot put (49-9.5)

Girls track and field

O’Condon Invitational: Aptos (86 points) took third out of 10 teams behind Alisal (103) and host North Monterey County (100) at the fifth annual O’Condon Invitational in Castroville on Friday. Santa Cruz (48) took fifth and Watsonville (27) took seventh.

Aptos senior Ava Churchill tied for first in both the high jump (4 feet, 8 inches) and triple jump (32-11), sophomore teammate Maya Schiro took first in the 3,200 (12:19.28) and third in the 1,600 (5:56.81), sophomore Ella Boyes took first in the 300 hurdles (52.35), and freshman Bella Hartnett took first in the 100 (12.83) and second in the 200 (26.89). The Mariners also took first in the 4×100 relay (52.58).

Santa Cruz senior Lucinda Steiner took first in the 100 hurdles (17.21), and junior teammate Meilia Nee took first in the pole vault (9-6). Watsonville junior Katelynn Ruiz took first in the 1,600 (5:31.63).

Santa Cruz sophomore Hayden Mandell took second in the pole vault (8-6), and the Cardinals took second in the 4×100 (52.73). Watsonville junior Jocelyn Guzman took second in the 800 (2:35.66).

Aptos junior Izzy Graff took third in the 100 (13.08), and Santa Cruz sophomore Joy Hilldale took third in the 200 (27.77).

Boys track and field

O’Condon Invitational: Aptos earned three event wins and produced nine top-three finishers at the fifth annual O’Condon Invitational at NMC High on Friday.

The Mariners totaled 87 points for second place in standings behind the host Condors (93). Watsonville (50) took fourth in the 11-team event, Pajaro Valley (44) took sixth and Santa Cruz (20) took eighth.

Santa Cruz senior Luke Tanguay took first in both the 110 hurdles (16.53) and 300 hurdles (41.01).

Pajaro Valley junior Izaak Ocampo tied for first in both the high jump (5-10) and long jump (18-11), and took third in the 200 (23.46)

Earning wins for the Mariners were junior Vincent Sandford-Carroll (1,600; 4:41.35), junior Colin Dagnall (3,200; 10:29.01), and sophomore Ben Comilang (triple jump, 41-10.5).

Watsonville senior Ruben Mora took first in the 400 (53.10) and second in the 300 hurdles (43.83). Junior teammate Nathaniel Aceves-Aguilar tied for first in the high jump (5-10) and second in the triple jump (41-1).

Aptos senior Joseph McGibben took second in both the 100 (11.35) and 200 (23.13). Other second-place finishers for the Mariners were freshman Sam Hansen in the 800 (2:05.38) and junior Andrew Pursley in the 3,200 (10:43.59).

Aptos junior Adrian Fernandez took third in the high jump (5-8) and senior teammate Carlos Gutierrez-Torres took third in the long jump (18-1).

Pajaro Valley took second in the 4×400 (3:47.16) and third in the 4×100 (47.85). Watsonville senior Joshua Murillo took third in the pole vault (10-0).
