Illegal marijuana oil lab shut down by Northern California police

(FOX40.COM) — An illegal marijuana oil lab was recently shut down by Northern California police officers, which led to the seizure of 16 pounds of concentrated marijuana and the arrest of a 47-year-old man.

According to the Redding Police Department, the butane honey oil (BHO) laboratory was hidden in an auto body shop near the 1300 block of Hartnell Avenue, about five miles from downtown Redding.

On March 27, Redding police officers said they executed a search warrant for the previously mentioned address and discovered a functioning BHO lab. “A BHO laboratory produces concentrated cannabis, which has a high value in the illegal market,” police said.

The Redding Police Department continued, “Butane is highly flammable and poses a significant danger when used during the BHO extraction. Even a tiny spark or heat source can trigger a catastrophic BHO laboratory explosion.”

During their search of the lab, police said they learned that 47-year-old Michael Easley was responsible for manufacturing the illegal marijuana oil at the discovered lab, but did not find him at the scene.

However, on Wednesday, police said they found and arrested Easley for several drug-related offenses and booked him into a Shasta County jail.

Police added that crews with the Redding Fire Department and other Redding agencies worked to dismantle the marijuana lab, which has since been deemed safe.
