Missing person found after extended helicopter search over central Palm Desert Thursday

A Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter circling over central Palm Desert along the Highway 111 corridor on Thursday afternoon was searching for a missing person, who has since been located, the department said. 

Department members broadcast an alert to residents and those shopping in the area through the helicopter's loudspeaker around 2:45 p.m. that they were looking for an at-risk individual.

Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez said that deputies first responded to the area of El Paseo and Portola Avenue at 10:59 a.m. in Palm Desert.
