LUBBOCK, Texas— Texas Tech is set to host Angel Strehli in a performance at the Allen Theater on Thursday, April 18, according to a press release from the university.

Strehli is a Lubbock-born blues singer who was raised in the Hub City and is considered the First Lady of Texas Blues. She helped build the Austin blues scene in the 1980s with club owner Clifford Antone, Jimmie and Steven Ray, Kim Wilson and many others.

The Austin Chronicle once said, “The Lubbock native hasn’t lost her touch . . . the music serves as satisfying comfort food for blues lovers and clearly attests to the fact that Angela Strehli can still deliver the goods.”

The performance will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at the Allen Theater inside the Student Union Building. Tickets for the public are on sale for $23, and students can get in for free with a student ID.
