Where To Watch The Solar Eclipse In New York City

The Total Solar Eclipse is Monday, April 8. And America is ready! The rare solar event will captivate folks from Texas to New York state, with the special ability to see a partial eclipse from New York City. The rare celestial event is expected to peak around 3:15 p.m. and last until 3:39 p.m., with 90% totality over New York City around 3:25 p.m.. Plan accordingly to put on your eclipse glasses and look to the sky, or head to one of these Monday afternoon celebrations to make the most of solar eclipse day.

Top of the Rock Observation Deck

Head to the viewing deck above Rockefeller Center for a solar eclipse viewing party on from 12:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. Guests at Top of the Rock will have the once-in-a-decade opportunity to safely watch the solar eclipse while taking in 360-degree views of New York City to the soundtrack of celestial themed music. Those who purchase tickets on April 8 with ticket times between 12pm – 2:30pm will receive complimentary ISO-certified solar eclipse glasses from Warby Parker, along with an eclipse themed black and white cookie from The Weather Room. Tickets are $55 and can be purchased here.

Tavern on the Green

This Central Park icon is hosting its first-ever Solar Eclipse viewing party, offering themed cocktails and American food like the Tavern burger for purchase, a themed black and white cookie, and protective glasses, free to all guests at the complimentary outdoor events. Held in the Courtyard from 2:00 p.m - 5:00 p.m., guests can enjoy a pre-eclipse happy hour featuring an astronomer from Columbia University giving a 30-minute educational presentation on the eclipse, explainning why it happens and why this particular eclipse is so rare.

The Edge

Head to Hudson Yards to experience the Solar Eclipse from the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere, offering unparalleled views of New York City's iconic skyline. As part of the Sky-High Eclipse experience, Edge will be giving out solar eclipse glasses to all guests. To enhance the eclipse viewing experience, try the special eclipse cocktail available for purchase at the bar.

Daintree

The intimate cocktail lounge and rooftop on the top floor of Hotel Hendricks in Midtown, will open early. The specialty cocktail bar with spectacular skyline views will offer happy hour drinks to those looking to score a view of the phenomenon.

Upstairs at The Kimberly

Experience the Solar Eclipse in all its glory at this Midtown rooftop at 145 E. 50th St. The rooftop will open early, at 3pm for the spectacle in the sky. The rooftop's signature Cilantro Sol cocktail, made with Casamigos Blanco Tequila, cilantro, pineapple, ginger, chili pepper, and lime, will be specially priced at $15 for the occasion. and will come with a complimentary pair of Solar Eclipse glasses while supplies last.

Harriet’s Rooftop

Head to the rooftop at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, which will open early at 11 a.n. exclusively for the solar event. Harriet’s Rooftop offers unparalleled views of the Manhattan skyline and eclipse viewing will be accompanied by music and a specialty cocktail created for the occasion. Eclipse viewing glasses will be offered complimentary with any food or drink purchase.


Haven Rooftop

Head up to the rooftop at Midtown’s Sanctuary Hotel (132 W. 47th Street) for an eclipse-themed midday escape. Enjoy happy hour from 3pm - 6pm with $6 select wines, $9 wine and champagne, and $10 margaritas, vodka and mixer, and gin and tonics at the bar.
