Anniston is home to the nearby Jacksonville State University, as well as some satellite campuses of Gadsden State Community College at the former Fort McClellan and the Ayers campus located further south. Anniston is also home to the U.S. Army's Anniston Army Depot which is used for the maintenance of most Army tracked vehicles.
