This in from TNT colour commentator Eddie Olcyzk, his take on Darnell Nurse’s poorly-timed pinch as an Oilers power play was expiring, one that led to a 4-on-1 Dallas Stars rush and a Wyatt Johnston goal, making the game 3-0 in the second period.

Essentially game over.

“You have to understand what the situation is,” said Olczyk. “And it’s Darnell Nurse again.  You know the penalty is expiring. He walks down and all of a sudden you’ve got Dallas Stars coming out of the penalty box, coming out of the defensive zone. That can’t happen.”

Nurse had a rough game. He had already been beaten on two cross-ice passes on the first two Dallas goals. But this third goal was a tough one, essentially a mental error at a key moment.

In the third period, announcer Jack Michaels noted, “I think the backbreaker was Johnston coming out of the box for the 4-on-1 following an Edmonton power play.”

Yes, indeed.

Some days you get the bear. Some days the bear gets you.
