PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A street takeover mission on Swan Island led to one arrest and multiple vehicles towed Friday night, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Just before 8 p.m., North Precinct, Traffic Division and Air Support Unit officers responded to the 6000 block of North Cutter Circle, making numerous traffic stops on vehicles attempting to leave the scene.

Officers tried to stop a man in a sedan seen doing drifting stunts. However, he eluded, drove into oncoming traffic and ran a red light, authorities say. Officers managed to box in the sedan using a PIT maneuver and arrested the driver, identified as 23-year-old Carter Morse. Officers also seized his Cadillac.

Authorities add that at least a dozen other vehicles were towed from the scene.

Morse was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of attempting to elude police by vehicle, reckless driving and unlawful street takeover.
