Gas leak in New Castle late on Friday afternoon
A gas leak near the City Market in New Castle was reported on Friday, causing a huge traffic backup on I-70 at the 105 exit.
A gas line was broken near the west exit of City Market, due to utility work associated with the new roundabout construction.
“Excel is taking care of it right now, traffic is being detoured off Castle Valley Boulevard to go downtown. There are no accidents or injuries we’ve heard of, just a straightforward gas leak and detour,” New Castle Town Administrator David Reynolds said.
