Elizabeth “Betsy” Helter Williams OBITUARY

Long-time resident of Walnut Creek, Elizabeth Helter Williams was born April 7, 1924 in Los Angeles, CA to Cloyd Roland “C.R.” Helter and Florence Elizabeth Claflin Helter and died on March 14, 2024 in Walnut Creek, CA. Educated in the public schools of South Pasadena, Elizabeth graduated from Occidental College November 1945. She was employed in the personnel department of the Los Angeles Times and also worked at American Trust Bank. Elizabeth married Robert Elwyn Williams on July 27, 1947 and they were happily married for 72.5 years until Robert’s death in January, 2021. Elizabeth served as a supportive pastor’s wife in congregations at San Geronimo, CA, Redmond, OR, Walnut Creek, CA and Oakland, CA. She was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church and the Grace Women’s Association. Elizabeth was a founding member of P.E.O. Chapter QC and Grace Cooperative Preschool. She served many years running an elections polling location for CCC Elections Office.Elizabeth is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Elizabeth Morris (John Richard), Barbara Grace Christie (Michael Monte), Deborah Jane Herndon (Philip Eugene) and six grandchildren, Barrett Ellsworth Morris, Kathryn Elizabeth Morris Hill (Peter David), John Robert Christie, Veronica Grace Christie, David Alexander Herndon (Lisa Christine), Natalie Elizabeth Herndon, and four great grandchildren, Valentine Hill, Leighton John Hill, Ella Christine Herndon, and Daphne Elizabeth Herndon.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 6, 2024 at 11am at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2100 Tice Valley Blvd., Walnut Creek, CA 94595.
