One person is dead, and another is in custody following an early-morning shooting in Bessemer.
Officers were dispatched at 5:35 a.m. Saturday to a report of a shooting at 18th Street and 18th Way, said Det. Justin Burmeister.
They arrived to find an adult male dead on the scene. He was inside a vehicle.
Burmeister said another man is in custody.
No additional details have been released and the investigation is ongoing.
The fatal shooting is Bessemer’s third homicide this year. In all of Jefferson County there have been 42 homicides including the three in Bessemer.
