AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said arson investigators arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a string of dumpster fires in north Austin.

According to police, 60-year-old Richard Dale Price was charged in connection with two of the fires and was a person of interest in at least five others. According to APD, the investigation into the additional cases was ongoing.

Attorney information for Price wasn’t available Wednesday afternoon. This story will be updated if that information becomes available and a statement is received.

The first fire was reported around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, and several more were reported throughout the day. APD said at approximately 3 p.m., an arson investigator saw Price near a dumpster fire, and he was arrested.

Police said Price was charged with a misdemeanor in one incident, and a state jail felony arson charge for a dumpster fire that caused approximately $10,000 in damages.
