Pfizer toxic chemical spill severity won’t be known for days

KALAMAZOO, MI — It may be several days before it’s known how much, if any, methylene chloride from a Pfizer manufacturing mishap reached the Kalamazoo River.

James Baker, Kalamazoo public services director, said city staff are testing wastewater entering the water reclamation plant, but initial sampling results sent to an outside lab in Muskegon won’t be available until Friday, March 15 at the earliest.
