Driver killed after losing control of vehicle towing boat

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A driver was killed Sunday morning after losing control of a vehicle that was pulling boat in northern Horry County, the coroner’s office said.

Frederick “Dustin” Cumbie, 37, of Galivants Ferry, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained when the vehicle struck a tree near Jordanville and Jeno Road in Galivants Ferry. It happened around 4 a.m.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
