James McLennon Davis OBITUARY

James “JD” (Jim) McLennon Davis, 82, formerly of Plano, died Sunday, March 31, 2024 at Sunnymere Living, Aurora Illinois. He was born January 30, 1942, in McHenry IL to Newman and Hazel (Stolp) Davis and grew up in Genoa City Wisconsin.

Jim was the beloved husband of Bonnie Sue Kee. They were married on September 9, 1961 for 62 years until Bonnie’s passing. They were longtime members of the Plano Methodist Church in Plano IL.

He was employed by Caterpillar for 30 years and, after retirement, worked for 20 years as a custodian in the Plano School District.

JD was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Braves. He hosted family, friends, and neighbors in “JD’s Packer Lounge” for decades. He was a comedian in his own right and will be remembered for his superior joke telling (often aided by his wife) among his many qualities.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Jim is survived by his sons, Greg (Christine) Davis of Aurora, IL and Jason (Dana) Davis of Plano, IL; his grandchildren, Alexis Ann, Natalie, John, Madison and AJ; his sister Cheryl Rinda as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Oscar Habeck, his wife, Bonnie, sister, Dorothy Cooper, nephew, David Bill, brother in laws, Kenneth Cooper, Kermit Bill, and John Rinda.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 13, 2024 at Plano Methodist Church, Plano IL, from 9-11 a.m.

Church service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve officiating. Luncheon to immediately follow. All are welcome.
