MECOSTA COUNTY, MI – A 27-year-old woman was killed in a crash after police say she failed to yield to an oncoming traffic, causing a collision.
Mecosta County sheriff’s deputies identified the woman who died as Catherine Brinks of Tustin.
The two-vehicle crash happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 31, in Mecosta Township. Police said a 32-year-old White Cloud woman was traveling eastbound on 8 Mile Road approaching Old State Road while Brinks was driving northbound on Old State Road.
Brinks came to a stop at the stop sign, then proceeded through the stop sign and failed to yield to oncoming eastbound traffic, police said. The White Cloud woman then hit Brinks’ vehicle on the driver side.
Investigators said Brinks was pronounced dead at the scene.
The White Cloud woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Police did not release the extent of her injuries.
