I hold my PMH-C (perinatal mental health certification), am certified in Gottman Method level 1 and 2, am a SafeZone ally, and EMDR.
Everyone's therapy needs are different! I take a collaborative, non-judgmental approach to honor those unique needs. I believe I have a responsibility as a therapist to create a safe, supportive, open environment where clients feel empowered to take an active role in their therapy process. When working with clients on concerns including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma, parenting, and work/school concerns I focus on patterns within and across generations of families, balance between connectedness and individuality, and increasing your ability to cope with and tolerate stress.

I use a holistic wellness-focused approach to therapy rooted in evidence-based practices such as CBT, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, and EMDR Therapy.
Many people avoid seeking help for fear that they or their children will be labeled. My motto is: "Peel off the labels and see the person underneath." I believe you are a person with unique needs, strengths, and challenges, that there are complex reasons you are living the life you are living today - AND, you can improve. Emotional pain and problems are just as natural and normal as physical pain and problems. When we let go of the labels we have about ourselves, our problems, or therapy in general, we can begin healing the pain and resolving the problems.

I specialize in trauma & believe in treating the root cause of your symptoms and can utilize EMDR to help you find yourself again.
I get it! Asking for help is hard. Especially when you wear ALL of the hats- student, parent, spouse, friend, employee, boss. But that is exhausting having to make sure everyone else is happy and everything around you is running smoothly. You might find yourself worrying about everything else- and you forget about yourself. Then add a stressful life experience or traumatic upbringing to the mix and you find yourself wondering who you are, what makes you happy, how you are going to get through this, and how you got here in the first place. Things can get tough and I am here to help you through it.

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my MSW from the University of Northern Iowa in 2018, where I specialized in trauma processing and trauma-informed care. I am a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist and work with depression, anxiety, anger management, and addiction, among other issues. I like to use an eclectic style in my treatment modalities, and I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” in therapy. I think people are the experts on their own experiences, so I enjoy working with individuals to tailor their mental health services to meet their needs.

I have completed some EMDR training and can offer that on request.
Accepting new clients of all ages with immediate availability! I pride myself on setting a space that permits you to take an inspired role in your healing journey, and it is my job to provide support and empowerment. I understand that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all practice, which is why I tailor my approach to each client depending on the nuance of the situation. It gives my life meaning to participate in a healing community, working one-on-one with people, offering a safe space to process whatever is needed: life, relationships, triggers, and other obstacles, and develop useful and pragmatic coping tools.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
