James "David" Dyer, age 81 of Kodak, TN entered the gates of heaven on February 11, 2024.

A native of Byrdstown, TN he was the son of Raymond and Ova Sells Dyer. He is preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Patricia Dyer Bracey, Pamela Dyer, Randall Dyer, Michael Dyer, Charles Dyer and Dwight Dyer.

David is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Groce Dyer, two daughters, Courtney Dyer Fitzgerald (Jim) of Nashville, TN and Amy Elizabeth Dyer of Knoxville, TN. His beloved grandson, Evan James Fitzgerald of Nashville, TN and David's sister Bettye Dyer Sloan (Tony) of Albany, KY. In addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

David loved his work of 42 years with Kenworth of Tennessee. As Parts Manager, he directed parts operations for two branches, one in Knoxville, TN and the other in Kingsport, TN. After retirement, David focused his time on the family farm, church, and his only grandchild Evan. David's favorite name was "Pa".

David and Carolyn are members of Leadvale Baptist Church. Here, David was a dedicated servant to his church community and beyond. He especially loved serving Leadvale abroad in the country of Belize.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 7th at Leadvale Baptist Church in White Pine, TN. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM with the service beginning at 1 PM. The burial service will be held the following Saturday, April 13th, at Lovelady Cemetery in Byrdstown, TN. The service will begin at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leadvale Baptist Church, the Lovelady Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.
