Carlo P. Borlandelli OBITUARY

Carlo Borlandelli passed away Wednesday April 3, 2024 at the age of 91. A lifetime resident of Alamo, he is survived by his wife Sonya Seyler Borlandelli, son and daughter-in-law Mathew and Chloe Borlandelli of Lakeside, MT and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents Enrico and Mary Borlandelli, sisters Josephine and Evelyn, and his first wife Lois Marie Smith Borlandelli.Carlo attended local schools and graduated from the original San Ramon Valley School in Danville in 1950. After serving four years in the US Air Force he earned a BS Degree from San Jose State College and began his career as a Civil Engineer for Contra Costa County. As a young father he rebuilt his family’s historic home, shared model railroading with Mathew and spent many years at the model railroad club at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. In retirement he was deeply involved at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley from the beginning of relocation and restoration of Danville’s landmark Southern Pacific Railroad Depot. He was a talented and energetic woodworker who designed and fabricated cabinets, furniture, shelving and more throughout the Museum.Another passion was the restoration of classic railroad cars for the Niles Canyon Railroad in Sunol. He loved the process of figuring out how things were built and how to re-create them, frequently with improvements. Everything built in Carlo’s woodshop was a labor of love: “Sawdust is not dirt!”He was a quiet, kind and generous man who will be greatly missed.A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Isidore Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville CA on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 10:30 am.
