Nancy (Omania) Dongallo OBITUARY

On February 29th, surrounded by her loving family, Nancy (Omania) Dongallo, peacefully transitioned into her eternal life, at the age of 91. The eldest of 12 children, she was born on February 2, 1933 in Stockton, Ca. to Apolinar (Enar) and Delapaz (Paz) Omania, of the Philippine islands. As a child, her father relocated and settled the family from Stockton to Concord CA, due to his employment with the Mare Island Naval Base, located in Vallejo, CA. It is in Concord where she would complete her education, graduating from Mt. Diablo High School in 1951. As a young teenager, she attended many of her fathers public concert and band performances. It is at this time, she developed a keen interest in music and singing. Already gifted with a beautiful classical voice, she would eventually perform as a lead vocalist in her father’s band. Nancy further enhanced her musical skills by taking private Piano lessons, and working with a Professional Vocalist. She became musically active in the Concord community participating in the Soroptimist Club, singing Classical “Arias”. Aside from her wonderful vocal talent, she would also be recognized for her beauty, finishing as runner-up in Concord’s once popular annual Pow-Wow parade and beauty contest. Her dedication, training and talent did not go unnoticed, as she was awarded a full Music Scholarship to San Francisco State University. While attending San Francisco State in 1952, she would meet her future husband Fernando Leander Dongallo,a graduate of The University of Purdue. Her husband worked many years as a Surveying Engineer for the State of California (Cal-Trans). The young couple 1st resided in Oakland Ca, from 1952 to 1964, where they welcomed their first three children Estrellita (Esther), Fernando Jr. (Sonny), and Alexander (Alex). The family then moved to Bay Point Ca, from 1964 to 1971, and welcomed two more children, Anthony and Leander (Lee). She and her family would relocate one more time, and settle permanently in Pittsburg Ca, from 1971, till the time of her passing. Nancy worked for the Systron & Donner Electronics Corporation, in Concord Ca, for 25 years, quietly retiring in 1996. One of her favorite activities was serving as a party organizer for the many ‘Party’ and ‘Pot Luck’ luncheons in the workplace. She truly loved working at the facility and made many lifelong friendships with her co-workers. In her spare time she volunteered her services, in the city of Pittsburg, as a choir member and soloist at St Peter Martyr Church in the early 1980’s and became involved with Catholic Daughters (YLI) in the 1990’s. She is survived by her four son’s, Fernando Jr. of Bay Point, Alexander of Oakley , Anthony of Pittsburg and Leander of Pleasant Hill, four grandchildren; Rachel Dongallo of Paris Ar., Andrea Stornetta of Vallejo, Alexis Habibi of San Ramon, and Logan Dongallo of Pittsburg , 11 great grand children, and 3 great great grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings-Esmeralda Rusk of Lotus, Aurelia Kerns of Austin Texas, Apolinar Jr. of Martinez, Loretta of Vallejo, Charmaine Perlman of Elk Grove, Sofia KirtleyConcord, Irene of Martinez, Louis of Lotus, and Martha of Martinez. Predeceased by her parent’s Apolinar and Delapaz, husband, Fernando Dongallo, Sr. brothers Richard and Rudolph, daughter Estrellita Lewis, and grand daughter Lisa Gibson. Services arranged by Ouiment Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel. 4125 Clayton Rd. Concord, Ca 94521. A Vigil at the Chapel will be held on March 13th, 2024 from 4-8 PM. A religious services will be conducted at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 2390 Grant St. Concord, Ca on March 14th, 2024 at 11:30 AM. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Rd. Lafayette, CA @ 1:30PM. Reception to follow TBA.
