Wayne L. Fliginger, 86, of Kewanee, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 8:32 p.m. at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg, IL.

He was born to Earl M. and Pearl (Leonard) Fliginger in Peoria on April 13, 1937. He married Carol Grebner on August 20, 1990, at St Edward’s Catholic Church in Chillicothe, IL.

Wayne is survived by his wife; two step-sons, Eric Grebner of Peoria and Todd (Marcie) Grebner of Ooltewah, TN; three step-grandchildren, Emily (Jack) Gaddis of Albuquerque, NM, Cassidy Grebner of Minneapolis, MN, and Colten Grebner, whom is residing with his parents in Ooltewah, TN; a nephew, Keith (Debbie) Wagler of Trivoli; and a niece, Lynne (Steve) Stewart of Hanna City. Several great-nephews and nieces reside in the Hanna City/Trivoli area as well.

Wayne was preceded in death by both of his parents; and a sister, Eileen Wagler.

Wayne spent nearly fifty years serving the Central Illinois area, providing real estate sales, residential, commercial and farm appraisal services, as well as commercial and farm mortgage services. Through the years, he owned Heritage Realty of Peoria, Advance Appraisal & Real Estate Services of Morton and Hanna City and was a partner in First Fidelity Mortgage Corporation of Peoria.

He had been a lifelong member of Mount Olive Missionary Church in Peoria, serving as a youth director in his earlier years. He served on the Board of Peoria Rescue Mission and served his country as a member of the United States Armed Forces.

Wayne’s favorite pastimes included anything classic cars, basketball and Southern Gospel Music.

A funeral service will be held at Mount Olive Missionary Church of Peoria at 1 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the same day at the church. Pastor Kurt Brubaker will officiate. Wayne will be buried at Groveland Mennonite Church Cemetery in Groveland, IL. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
