Newspaper Headlines: EFCC to arraign Sirika over alleged N8bn Nigeria Air fraud

Reports on the reduction in the price of diesel and aviation fuel, and the release of another batch of forex to bureau de change operators, permeate the frontpages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may prosecute 300 forex racketeers trading on a peer-to-peer platform outside the financial regulations. The newspaper says 50,000 schools have been listed in the federal government’s safe school scheme.

Daily Trust reports that EFCC has arrested Hadi Sirika, former minister of aviation, over alleged N8 billion fraud. The newspaper says President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 12 consuls-general and five chargè d’ affaires for 14 countries.

The Guardian reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is set to sell $16 million to bureau de change operators at N1,021/$ amid panic in the foreign exchange market. The newspaper says Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has summoned the party’s governorship aspirants in Ondo.

THISDAY reports that the federal government has officially launched a new set of fiscal incentives to rejuvenate Nigeria’s ailing oil and gas industry and attract about N10 billion in investments in the next 12 months. The newspaper says Dangote refinery has announced a further reduction in the prices of both diesel and aviation fuel to N940 and N980 per litre respectively.
