More than three years in the making, cofounders Tim Klitch and Dan Keelan will open Austin Pickle Ranch's second location at the former Golfsmith spot in May.

In a nutshell

The original Austin Pickle Ranch on West Sixth Street opened Oct. 1 with eight rooftop courts.

The 50,000-square-foot Braker-area facility will offer 16 regulation-sized indoor courts, making it one of the largest indoor pickleball complexes in the state, according to a news release.

What else?

Officials said the North Austin courts will be certified by Austin-based Johns Design & Consulting—a firm founded in 2024 by brothers and world-ranked pickleball players Ben and Collin John. JDC focuses on pickleball court aspects such as surfacing, color selection, lighting, sightliness, sound attributes and more, according to the press release. These will be the first courts certified by the brothers, officials said.

“We have had a close working relationship with Klitch and the Austin Pickle Ranch team," Collin Johns said in the news release. "He has watched as we built our careers in pickleball from the ground up, and it is now time for us to help him build his own."

In his own words

“We are excited to introduce a brand-new, top-tier indoor pickleball facility to the dynamic North Austin community,” Klitch said in the news release. “We understand there is a shortage of high-quality, easily accessible pickleball courts in the city, and our new facility will offer plenty of room for players of all levels, ensuring year-round enjoyment, especially when the Texas sun cranks up the heat.”
