Kochi: Even though there is a thunderstorm warning, yellow alert for high temperatures of 2-4C continues for several districts till May 26.
Maximum temperatures are very likely to be around 39C in Kottayam, Kollam and Thrissur while it is expected to be around 38C in Pathanamthitta district. It is likely to be around 37C in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts and around 36C in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad districts till Tuesday.
Hot and sultry weather is very likely over these districts except in hilly areas due to high temperature and humid air.
Several places recorded high temperatures of more than 36C including Kottayam (38.4C), Vellanikkara (38C), Thiruvananthapuram (37.4C), Alappuzha (37.1C), Cial Kochi (37.1C), Palakkad (37.2C), Karipur airport (36.6C), Kozhikode (36C)
According to 24-hour averages recorded on Friday morning, maximum temperature rose appreciably in Alappuzha, Malappuram districts. It was well above normal in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur districts. Kottayam recorded the highest maximum temperature of 38.4C and Punalur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 19.2C. tnn
