LSU Transfer Hailey Van Lith Visiting Rival SEC Program, per Report

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

LSU transfer Hailey Van Lith is set to visit Mississippi State this weekend, according to multiple reports.

The news was first reported by Talia Goodman of women‘s basketball site The Next. Stefan Krajisnik of the Clarion Ledger later confirmed Goodman’s report.

Van Lith entered the transfer portal on April 4, seeking a new team for her fifth and final year of college eligibility. She was granted an extra year of eligibility because her freshman season was in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Van Lith played her first three college seasons at Louisville before transferring to LSU ahead of this most recent season. She was sixth on the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game, a steep drop-off from the 19.7 per game that she averaged as Louisville’s top scoring option the year before.

Mississippi State’s head coach is Sam Purcell, who was the associate head coach at Louisville when Van Lith played there. The Bulldogs went 23–12 this season, finishing seventh in the SEC with an 8–8 conference record.
