William Eugene "Bill" Spangler 76, of Hagerstown, MD and formerly of Williamsport, MD passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

Bill was born on April 12, 1947, in Hagerstown, MD to the late John S. "Shorty" and Mary Catherine "Katie" (Cooper) Spangler.

He was a 1965 graduate of Williamsport High School. He was captain of the soccer team, was part of the prom committee and was in the Future Teachers of America, along with other various organizations. Years later, he took part in helping to plan many class reunions.

Bill was a veteran of U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1968 through 1969. He worked on generators and repaired numerous parts for helicopters.

Bill was a hard worker who did many jobs to provide for his family. He worked as a draftsman at Potomac Edison. Between layoffs at Mack Trucks, he started his own painting business. He was finally recalled to Mack Trucks where he retired.

Throughout his life, Bill served in various capacities within the Improved Order of the Redmen. Such as past Great Sachem serving the state of Maryland, Chief of Records at the IORM Tribe #84 Williamsport, MD for many years. He was also a Life Member and he previously served as House Committee Chairman and temporary Club Manager of Tribe #84.

Bill is survived by his daughter Gina M. Householder and her husband Craig of Hagerstown, MD; grandson Corey Householder of Hillsboro, OR; granddaughter Carinna Householder of Hagerstown, MD; cousin Norma Jane Baker who was raised like his sister; numerous other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife Jean Horst Spangler and an infant daughter Susan Spangler.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00pm. The funeral home will be open after 12(Noon) on Monday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 11:00am with Pastor Kimberly Nunberg-Wadel officiating. Military honors will take place at the funeral home immediately following the service and will be provided by The Joint Veteran's Council and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
