No. 4 Eagles Down Tar Heels in Pink Game

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's lacrosse downed No. 13 North Carolina 18-12Ā in Alumni Stadium in the annual Pink Game on Saturday afternoon.Ā 

The team recognized and dedicated the game to Mikaela Rix and her family for the Pink Game.Ā 

The Eagles improve to 10-2 and 5-1 in the ACC, while the Tar Heels fall to 7-5 and 3-3 in the league.Ā 

It was a career day for both Emma LoPinto and Shea Dolce, who led the charge on both ends of the field. LoPinto poured in a career-high seven goals with two assists for nine points. Dolce tied a career best with 13 saves, including six stops in the final period with a .520 save percentage.Ā 

Mckenna Davis tallied five points (3 G, 2 A) and Kayla Martello registered a hat trick with three goals. Cassidy Weeks scored twice and four other Eagles scored once.Ā 

Shea Baker and Abbey Herod led BC with four draw controls and Becky Browndorf caused two turnovers.Ā 

After North Carolina held an early 3-1 edge, BC put together six straight goals, highlighted by four from LoPinto to take a commanding 7-3 advantage in the second period.Ā 

Davis scored late in the second frame to give her team an 8-4 lead. UNC responded by scoring with 31 seconds left before the half.Ā 

The Tar Heels' run continued as they sliced the gap to one, 8-7, in the third. Ryan Smith started a 4-0 stretch that saw three other players in Weeks, Belle Smith and LoPinto finding the back of the net.Ā 

After UNC stayed within striking distance by scoring two straight, LoPinto scored with .8 left on the clock to give the Eagles a 13-9 lead going into the fourth.Ā 

The buzzer-beating goal by LoPinto started a string of five consecutive goals that stretched into the fourth. BC led by as much as eight, 17-9, and pulled away for the victory.Ā 

BC returns to action on Wednesday against Yale at 4 p.m. in the Morgan's Message game.Ā
