Ada boys capture championship at Pauls Valley meet

Apr. 2—PAULS VALLEY — Ada High boys track coach Colby Shamley finally took his full squad to a track meet and the Cougars flexed their muscles.

Ada won the Jack Hayes Invitational hosted by Pauls Valley last Friday with a team score of 195. Heritage Hall was runner-up at 153 and host Pauls Valley finished third at 83.

The Lady Cougars finished sixth in the girls team standings. Heritage Hall won the team title with 139 points, Pauls Valley was runner-up at 134 and Washington placed third at 99.

Both Ada squads are scheduled to compete in the Dragon Invitational in Purcell today and travel to the Plainview Invitational on Friday.

BOYS

Ada had three relay teams capture gold medals at the meet.

Xander Rhynes, Lakievin Richardson, Gavin Hamilton and Deante Lindsay teamed up to capture first place in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 43.49. Heritage Hall was second at 43.64 in the tight race while Purcell finished third at 45.72.

In the 4x200 Meter Relay, the Cougar team of Hamilton, Chauncy Conway, Tremaine Gray and Rhynes won the gold with a time of 1:30.7. A team from Pauls Valley was runner up in 1:35.00 and Washington finished third at 1:35.30.

Ada's entry in the 4x400 Meter Relay also finished first. That foursome — consisting of Camariee Richardson, Gray, Lakievin Richardson and Rhynes — recorded a winning time of 3:31.69. Heritage Hall won the silver medal in 3:35.00 and Ringling followed at 3:37.62.

The Cougars finished fourth in the 3200 Meter Relay with a time of 9:13.89. Those AHS runners included Austin Smith, Jake Bohannon, Case Stafford and Shawn Walker. Heritage Hall won that race in 8:32.86 and Purcell was second at 8:50.16.

The Ada squad won gold medals in seven other events.

Defending state champ Xander Rhynes finished first in the 400 Meter Dash in 49.85. Demarion Dean of Heritage Hall was second in 51.41. Austin Smith of Ada finished sixth in 55.96.

Lindsay sped his way to a pair of gold medals in hurdles events. He captured first place in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 39.65. Ian Lamb of Pauls Valley finished second in 43.65. Lindsay also raced to first place in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a blazing time of 14.76. Caleb Taylor of Ringling was second with a time of 16.24.

Conway won the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.06. Jordyn Harris of Heritage Hall was a close second in 11.07 and Conner Lane of Noble finished third at 11.08. Lakievin Richardson of Ada placed fourth in 11.16 and Gavin Hamilton registered a sixth-place finish in 11.27.

Carter Colombe won the High Jump with a leap of 6-0 even. AHS teammates Milan Riley and Tremaine Gray both posted jumps of 5-10 for second and third place.

Ada's Gavin Gunter won both the Shot Put and the Discus.

In the Shot Put, Gunter registered a toss of 44'-3". Parker Page of Purcell was second at 43'-11". Ada's Dawson Matthews finished fourth with a toss of 43'-8" and teammate Fisher Mar was next at 43'-3".

Gunter tossed the discus 155'-3" to easily win the gold medal. Gavin Freeman of Heritage Hall was second at 142'-10" and Ada's Dawson Matthews finished third at 141'-11",

Lindsay finished second for Ada in the Long Jump with a distance of 21'3.5". Rayne Major of Pauls Valley won that event with a length of 21'7.5". Ada's Caron Richardson finished third at 20'-9".

Ada's Carver Gregory finished fourth in the Pole Vault with a leap of 10' even. Carter McCain of Wynnewood won the gold with a 12-foot jump.

And in the 200 Meter Dash, Conway was fourth for Ada in 22.97. Camariee Richardson was fifth for the Cougars in 23.08 and Hamilton was sixth in 23.16. George Robley of Heritage Hall won that race in 22.47.

GIRLS

The Ada High girls contingent was led by Aby Gutierrez, who won the Discus with a toss of 107'-1". Tyley Dotson of Ada was runner-up at 102'-8" and the Lady Cougars swept the Top 3 after Aliyah Marshall was third at 98'3-".

Tyley Dotson also finished second in the Shot Put with a throw of 38'-11". Sister Gracey Dotson finished sixth with a toss of 35'-1". Kiara Stallin of Tecumseh won the gold with a throw of 42'-9".

In the High Jump, Bella Holcomb of Ada finished fourth with a jump of 4'-8". Marci Payne of Noble finished first with a leap of 5'-0 even.

Ada's Bentli Taylor finished sixth in the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 1:08.36. Isabella Gutierrez of Pauls Valley won that race in 1:01.60.

Ada's 1600 Meter Relay team, consisting of Taylor, twins Jayden and Jazmyne Gray and Holcomb, finished fifth with a time of 4:41.75. Pauls Valley won that race in 4:25.54.
