The Figure Skating Club of Watertown is hosting its Annual End of the Year Skating Show, “Just Skate” 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Watertown Municipal Arena.

The event is free and open to the public. Instead of an entry fee, the club is encouraging spectators to bring a donation for the Jefferson County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

Here’s a list of items that can be brought for donation:

  • Isopropyl alcohol – 70-percent or higher
  • Mineral-free distilled water
  • Paper towels and bath towels
  • Blankets and pillow cases
  • Pill pockets
  • Toys (durable for super chewers)
  • Adaptil spray
  • Wet dog food and treats
  • Kongs
  • Dog collars
  • Leashes and slip leads
  • Feliway spray for cats
  • Cat litter
  • Catnip

Seventy club members will skate in the show this weekend. Head Coach Sherry Robbins and her team choreographed show programs for all levels, from the youngest 3-year-old group in the club’s U.S. Figure Skating Learn to Skate program, up to the most accomplished senior-level skaters.

“Just Skate” will also celebrate graduating high school seniors Maggie Fipps, Alexandria Perkins-Grimaldi and Morgan Waite.

This has been a successful year for the club’s skaters with several members medaling in the New York State Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid this past February, which qualified them for the State Games America in San Diego, CA this summer. Several club skaters will also compete this summer in the U.S. Figure Skating Excel National Festival hosted by the Skating Club of Boston. The club hosted its 12th Annual Snow Town Invitational competition in March with over 50 skaters participating from across Upstate New York.
