New ag lab to benefit agriculture industry at NDSU

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A new NDSU agricultural research lab is in the process of being constructed to bolster the efforts in the field for students. It will be called Bolley Agricultural Laboratory after Henry Bolley, the state seed commissioner from 1909 to 1929 and a pioneering plant pathologist.

This lab will house numerous research programs that include plant breeding, weed science and soil science.

“Well it’s a critical discipline within NDSU and certainly the work that we do within agriculture plays a role in every county, every community in the state,” said Greg Lardy, the NDSU vice president for agriculture. “It impacts main street businesses across the state of North Dakota. So the work that will go on here will spur economic activity across the entire state.”

Construction is set begin this summer for the new lab and will take a couple of years.
