EMPORIA, Va. (WRIC) — An Emporia man who was injured in a Friday afternoon double shooting was arrested Saturday and charged in connection to the death of the other involved person.

On Friday, April 5, officers with the Emporia Police Department responded to the 600 block of Clay Street and found two men with gunshot wounds.

According to the department, both were taken to local hospitals. While 21-year-old Larry Banks of Emporia is now stable following treatment, 29-year-old Zaequan Person of Chesterfield County died at the hospital.

On Saturday, April 6, officers arrested Banks in connection to Person’s death. According to an update shared by the department on Sunday, Banks has been charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The department did not provide any other information surrounding the circumstances of this incident. However, in its original press release, the department said the investigation into what happened between Person and Banks is ongoing.
