DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — No one was injured after a house fire broke out shortly after midnight in Durham, the fire department said.

Crews responded to a structure fire call in the 1700 block of Angier Avenue around 12:21 a.m. Friday. According to the Durham Fire Department, the first unit on scene reported seeing heavy smoke coming from the right side of the structure and people evacuating the building.

Fire crews were able to bring the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, the department said.

Everyone in the home escaped without injury, but have been displaced due to heavy smoke, fire and water damage to the house. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Durham Fire Department was assisted by Durham County EMS and the Durham Police Department.
